Moving large video archives or regular production batches through a browser can slow down established content workflows. Cinema8 FTP Upload lets teams transfer video and audio files directly into their Media Library through secure SFTP, using an FTP client or automated system. Accepted files are automatically imported and queued for conversion, making bulk uploads, archive migrations and recurring content transfers easier to manage with Cinema8’s video hosting without keeping a browser session open.

Simplify bulk video uploads

How to upload videos with Cinema8 FTP Upload

Move large video and audio batches directly into your Cinema8 Media Library using secure SFTP, without keeping a browser session open throughout the transfer.

Step 1

Generate your personal FTP access from the Media Library to receive your secure host, port, username and one-time password.

Step 2

Connect using an SFTP-compatible client such as FileZilla, Cyberduck or WinSCP, or automate transfers directly from your own systems.

Step 3

Drop your files into your personal upload folder. Cinema8 checks and imports accepted files, then automatically queues them for conversion and playback.

FTP upload for video hosting lets teams transfer large volumes of video and audio directly into a hosting platform without uploading each file through a browser. Cinema8 FTP Upload uses secure SFTP, automatically checking accepted files, importing them into the Media Library and queuing them for conversion so they are prepared for playback.
Cinema8 FTP Upload supports bulk video and audio transfers, making it useful for migrating an existing archive or importing regular production batches. Teams can drop multiple files into their personal SFTP folder, after which Cinema8 picks up each accepted file, imports it into the appropriate Media Library and queues it for conversion.
Video uploads to Cinema8 can be automated through any system capable of communicating over SFTP. Scripts, cron jobs, export pipelines and watch folders can push files directly to Cinema8, making FTP Upload suitable for recurring workflows where teams want new media transferred without manually uploading every batch through a browser.
Cinema8 FTP Upload supports MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and AVI video files, alongside MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC and WMA audio. Cinema8 identifies the file type automatically, placing video uploads in the Videos library and audio uploads in the Audios library.
Files transferred through Cinema8 FTP Upload are checked, imported and queued for conversion. The Activity list tracks each file through Received, Processing, Converting and Ready. If an upload is rejected, it moves to the failed/ folder with an .error.txt file explaining the problem and how to resolve it.
Cinema8 can automatically create a draft video for each new FTP upload once conversion finishes. Enabling the auto-create option generates the draft and its thumbnail automatically, ready for review or editing. The setting only applies to files uploaded after it is enabled, and nothing is automatically published.
Cinema8 FTP Upload is available on Pro Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans. Each team member can generate their own FTP credentials, and their uploaded files retain individual ownership and attribution. Existing permissions, including Manage Own Library Only visibility rules, continue to apply just as they do with regular uploads.
